Can we do this training with an overweight dog? Print this Page E-mail This Page to a Friend
Yes, you can. Use low-fat treats, such as Cheerios, fruits, and vegetables. Use your dog's regular food as a treat. Measure out his daily food ration, and give it to him as rewards during training. Then you're not feeding him anymore than you would on any other day. For training in class, we recommend that you mix something a bit more enticing in with his dietary treats, such as low-fat hotdogs.
